Research center of traditional ships

Traditional ships as a core source of marine cultural heritage, include Jounseon (cargo ship), Geobukseon (turtle warship), Panokseon (warship), Hwangpo dotbae (Hwangpo sailing boat), and Joeseontongsinsaseon (diplomatic ship for the Joseon envoy to Japan). Research on traditional ships is aimed at finding, preserving, and passing down Korean traditional shipbuilding technologies. Based on the wrecked ships discovered in the sea and Korean traditional ships and on a variety of literature, basic design research, performance analysis, and shipbuilding supervision are conducted.
